This month, I had the pleasure of interviewing Leyla Naghizada, who is redefining what it means to be a work-from-home mom. Leyla is the co-founder of the very successful Luxy Hair, the face of “RealLeyla” on social media, a mother of one, with another on the way!
When watching Leyla’s videos, her positive attitude continuously shines, and as “The Love Spreader,” I wanted asked how she manages to keep a cheerful outlook while both working, and managing a growing family.
Through our Q&A, I was honestly surprised to hear like millions of people, Leyla too had once struggled with depression, despite the fact that she was living a very successful and exciting life. Upon a short move to Los Angeles, she fell into a deep depression after going through some mystical and spiritual experiences. She spent months trying to overcome those experiences, and try to make sense of it all. As Leyla had said, depression has the power to create darkness in every corner of your life. However, I think we both agree that despite how much strength depression has, there is a greater power in positivity, which will eventually (and with time!) conquer the darkness in your life. One of the most important parts that Leyla did through this time, was realizing what kind of situation she was in and to make the decision to take action, and make good choices, to get through it. Naghizada used a mix of the support of her loving family and the strength of her (now) husband, Demetri, to slowly but surely heal her broken heart. Looking back on that time, she is now stronger than ever. An evident detail that Leyla shows throughout her road to positivity is the way she surrounds herself with supportive people. You too, dear reader, can do this. Even if you don’t have a close relationship with a family member or friend, you would be surprised how many people in your day to day life would be willing to help you. Reach out to a co-worker, a neighbor, or a therapist – having someone who is willing to listen and support you can do absolute wonders.
I really love how Leyla has been able to pick herself up and move on from this experience. While her family is her number one priority, in her free time she loves to make videos, and creating inspiring content, in order to connect with people all over the world. She says it is what fuels my desire to continue to make videos, and to stay active on social media, “It’s a balancing act no doubt, and I’m just doing my best everyday trying to figure out how to stay on top of everything.”
I think Leyla is extremely inspiring, and I consider her one of my role-models. Her advice for all other working women out there is to follow your inner guidance, heart, and passions – “having something to be passionate about ignites the fire to drive you to accomplish some pretty incredible things.”
All in all, Leyla proves to us that no matter what you are going through in life, you can get through it and come out on the better side happier and healthier than ever before.
Until next time,
